“Maniera Scura” is a spontaneous converging initiative between the artists Mik Bòiter, Alberto Brunello and Michele Servadio. Its core is fuelled with a drive for truth, that of depriving the creative production from ego’s greed for material and aesthetic safety. “Que Viene El Coco” is an innovating collective experience, including Canemorto, Elie Carp and Milan Jespers, where the approach flows through instinct and intrinsic flaws with energy and curiosity: an error is always a sign of the natural occurring of events and therefore, right. Photographic enlargers, just as the etching press, vanish in the digital era, and resuscitate freed from their function of serial reproduction and from the need of a pedantic interpretation of the real.
The aimless primordial use of these instruments, by now outdated and generally substituted by much more fast, cheap and common means, opens henceforth up towards a free technical experimentation, emancipated from necessity and practical purposes.
“Que Viene El Coco” is a research into the unknown, through experimentation, where different backgrounds and styles meet and collide, thereby deconstructing the phases of old fashioned photography printing. Inside the darkroom, “El Coco” is manipulated, handled and plays with transversal techniques in a daring creative act, halfway through old style artisanship and a pupils’ game.

“Maniera Scura” est une initiative convergente spontanée entre les artistes Mik Boiter, Alberto Brunello et Michele Servadio.
Son essence même est nourrie par une recherche de la vérité, celle de priver la production créatrice de l’avidité de l’égo pour la sécurité matérielle et esthétique.
“Que Viene El Coco” est une expérience collective innovante, rejointe par Canemorto, Elie Carp et Milan Jespers, où la démarche circule par instinct et fautes intrinsèques avec énergie et curiosité : une erreur est toujours le signe d’un processus naturel d’événements et par conséquence juste.
Les agrandisseurs photographiques, telle la presse de gravure, sont voués à la disparition dans l’ère numérique. Ils en renaissent libérés de leur fonction de reproduction sérielle, ainsi que du besoin de reproduire la réalité avec pédanterie.
L’utilisation sans âme ni but de ces instruments, aujourd’hui dépassés et globalement substitués par des moyens plus rapides, meilleurs marchés et banals, permet l’ouverture vers des expérimentations créatrices libérées des entraves techniques et, par conséquent émancipées de la nécessité et des objectifs pragmatiques.
“Que Viene El Coco” est une recherche dans l’inconnu, par l’expérimentation et le croisement de différents horizons, regards et styles qui se rencontrent et s’entrechoquent, ce qui permet de déconstruire les étapes de l’impression photographique révolue.
A l’intérieur de la chambre noire, “El Coco” est manipulé, traité voir malmené et se joue des techniques transversales dans un élan de créativité audacieux, à mi-chemin entre l’artisanat traditionnel et un jeu d’enfant.

De kern ervan wordt gedreven door een zoektocht naar de waarheid, dat de creatieve productie bevrijden wil van de hebzucht van het ego voor materiële en esthetische veiligheid.
“Que Viene El Coco” is een daaruit voortvloeiende collectieve ervaring, met de toegetreden artiesten Canemoro, Elie Carp en Milan Jespers, waarbij de benadering voortstroomt door instinkt en onvermijdelijke fouten gepaard gaan met energie en nieuwsgierigheid: een fout is altijd het teken van een natuurlijk gebeuren en daarom juist.
Fotografische vergroters, zoals de gravure pers, zijn gedoemd te verdwijnen in het digitale tijdperk, en worden zodoende herboren, bevrijd van hun functie van seriële reproductie en de behoefte om de werkelijkheid op een pedante wijze weer te geven.

Het doelloos oer gebruik van deze instrumenten, vergaand en vervangen door nieuwe middelen die sneller, goedkoper en algemeen zijn, staat een vernieuwing toe naar experimenten, geëmancipeerd van noodzakelijkheid en praktische overwegingen.
“Que Viene El Coco” is een zoektocht naat het onbekende, door middel van experimenten, waarbij de diverse achtergronden, uitgangspunten en stijlen elkaar ontmoeten in een confrontatie vol dynamiek, met als gevolg de fasen van de ouderwetse fotografische Printing methoden te deconstrueren.
Binnen de camera obscura, wordt “El Coco” gemanipuleerd, bekneed en speelt men met de transverale technieken op een ludieke en gedurfde creatief volle wijze, ergens in tussen de traditionele ambacht en kinder spel.
